Multimedia content, ranging from text, images, videos, to audio, obtained from users and physical devices, paves the way for a novel research avenue centered on the analysis and interpretation of multi-modal information. This research is giving place to Social Intelligent Environments as the result of a combination of IEs and online social networks (OSN) as the primary source of multimedia content. This workshop seeks mechanisms adept at extracting, fusing and analysing data from multiple sources based on Artificial Intelligence techniques, emphasizing the inherent data heterogeneity characteristic of OSN integrated as part of any Intelligent Environment.
This workshop focuses on intelligent solutions for social-media processing that considers such an inherent heterogeneity. This way, mechanisms able to extract knowledge from multimedia data posted by users in online social media platforms or the fusion of different types of data coming from these feeds would be of special interest.
This workshop will be held as a co-located event in the 22nd International Conference on Intelligent Environments (IE'26) .
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following ones:
Instructions for Authors:
Optimizing emergency exit placement in complex indoor environments is a critical challenge. This talk will show how a simulation-based framework driven by a probabilistic cellular automaton can be used to model emergent pedestrian dynamics. Agent movement follows a differential desirability gradient, combining rational pathfinding with dynamic repulsion fields, thus capturing behaviors from orderly evacuation to chaotic scattering. To navigate the complex, non-linear search space of exit configurations, evolutionary and memetic simheuristics can be used. By integrating global evolutionary search with local, derivative-free intensification, such an approach overcomes the lack of analytical gradients, identifying optimal layouts that significantly minimize evacuation times and non-evacuee counts in dense, obstacle-rich scenarios.
